Systems Café: Beyond maps: How GIS is helping us better understand data and enhancing obesity research

Title: Beyond maps: How GIS is helping us better understand data and enhancing obesity research

Presenters: RRC GIS team and Project 3 (Nicole Robinson, MS, Atif Adam, MD)

Time: Feb 26, 12:15pm - 1:15pm

Location: W2017, JHBSPH

Abstract:

This month’s System Café will look at geospatial science as it relates to obesity research. The presenters will demo some of the GIS related work from project 3 and review GIS on its use in obesity research linked to location, demographics, and the environment to better understand the variations in health and social outcomes. Ranging from geographically relevant data analysis to powerful data visualization, the presenters will look to present GIS as a medium to integrate data, create evidence, identify inequities, better inform decision makers, and aide in planning/targeting appropriate interventions.
