Carla graduated with a BS in Biology from Bates College where she conducted a thesis investigating songbirds as reservoirs for Lyme disease. Her interest in zoonotic disease brought her to EcoHealth Alliance, a small non-profit that aims to integrate conservation efforts with public health.
After working briefly in environmental sustainability for an apparel company, Carla began her Master’s degree at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she has started to shift her interests towards implementation science and equity in access to care. Carla worked on neglected tropical disease modeling at the Global Obesity Prevention Center (GOPC), with a focus on transmission and intervention modeling for Chagas disease.
