Harmony Farner received her MA in anthropology from the University of Memphis, with a concentration in medical anthropology. For her practicum, she worked with the Shelby County Jail East Women’s Facility in Memphis, TN to identify deficiencies in rehabilitative programs and healthcare in relation to gender.
Harmony’s research interests include co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders, race and social inequality, community development and food access and participatory action research.
Harmony now works as a research assistant for the B’more Healthy Community for Kids (BHCK) project. Harmony conducts interviews with children and their primary caregiver to capture data such as food purchasing behaviors, nutrition knowledge and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
