Mariana Tarricone Garcia traveled to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health to learn how a large scale intervention trial operates. Ms. Garcia was interested in learning about Dr. Joel Gittelsohn’s BHCK intervention in order to develop skills with intervening in the food environment. The research project, which was developed during the internship, was part of the objectives of the research project in Brazil. Ms. Garcia’s PhD project is related to the evaluation of the contribution of urban agriculture to promote adequate and healthy food from the perspective of health promotion.
